Air fryers can make your life in the kitchen a lot easier. They are convenient, cook food evenly every time, and are a healthier option compared to many other cooking methods.
Another reason why air fryers are so popular is their ability to cook all kinds of different foods. However, despite their versatility, they aren’t all-powerful. Continue reading to find out five foods you shouldn’t cook in an air fryer.
Raw Rice
An air fryer is used for dry cooking. Raw rice, on the other hand, requires boiling water to be cooked. However, the air fryer does an excellent job of reheating already cooked rice.
Anything With a Wet Batter
Any food that contains wet batter should be kept away from the air fryer. It won’t cook properly and the sticky batter will make a mess that could potentially damage the device.
Cheesy Food
You should avoid cooking cheesy food in an air fryer for the same reason. The exceptions are mozzarella sticks and grilled cheese sandwiches, but only if you take measures of precaution to avoid cheese spilling into the basket.
Leafy Greens
You can technically cook leafy greens in an air fryer, but you definitely shouldn’t. They tend to be unevenly cooked or dried completely out, making them unpalatable.
Popcorn
Making popcorn in an air fryer is a source of great controversy. Some people claim there is nothing wrong with that, while others would never put popcorn kernels in their air fryer. We have to side with the latter because it is hard to get the right temperature for kernels to pop and, more importantly, kernels can get stuck in your air fryer and create a fire hazard.
